Three held for currency racket

The Chandra Layout police have arrested three persons, including a 27-year-old woman, on the charge of printing and circulating fake currency notes in and around the city.

Police identified the accused as Radha (27), her associates Naveen (23) and Yuvaraja (25). According to the police, the kingpin of the racket, Radha, and her husband, Umesh, used to get the fake currency consignment from their contact identified as Sridhar in Hubballi.

Based on a tip-off, the police raided the house in Mudalapalya and arrested the trio, but Umesh managed to escape. The police have recovered over Rs. 1 crore-worth fake currency in various denominations.

Efforts are on to nab Umesh to expose links in the racket that extends to Hubballi, Labhu Ram, Deputy Commissioner of Police, said.
