Threats started after book release

October 24, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:43 am IST - Bengaluru:

Twenty-three-year-old Uchchangi Prasad published his first book, Odala Kichchu (Inner Fire – a reference to the will and determination of the Dalit community) in April 2014.

Comprising prose and poetry, the book catalogued the treatment of Dalits in the country.

At the book launch in Davangere, writer K.S. Bhagavan — who recently received threats for his views on Hinduism — spoke, inviting the ire of right-wing organisations. Complaints were filed at the local police station for alleged provocative speech.
