Engineer’s complaint was the trigger

Allegations of corruption in the Lokayukta office surfaced after a Public Works Department engineer complained that a man claiming to be a senior police officer at the institution threatened to foist a corruption case on him if he did not pay Rs one crore. Superintendent of Police Sonia Narang submitted a report to the Lokayukta Registrar indicating the involvement of Krishna Rao and Ashwin Rao in the incident. An NGO, Janaadhikara Sangharsha Parishath, filed a complaint prompting Upa Lokayukta Subash B. Adi to order a probe.
