Teachers, printers to face the music for errors in question papers

April 16, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 07:30 am IST - BENGALURU:

Teachers and printers will now be taken to task for errors in question papers of SSLC and PU examinations held in April.

Minister of State for Primary and Secondary Education Kimmane Ratnakar told presspersons on Wednesday that action would be taken against teachers if they were found to have committed mistakes while preparing the question paper for SSLC and PU examinations.

Following the repeated errors in question papers this year, the department decided to give grace marks for students who attempted the wrong questions. He added that action would be taken against the printers too, if question papers were wrongly printed.

The Minister defended granting grace marks for PUC/SSLC students, saying it would not be right on the part of the government to conduct examinations again for six lakh PU students for errors committed by teachers/printers.

Pay scales

Mr. Ratnakar, who held a meeting with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and the PU Teachers’ Association, said it was decided to implement the Kumara Naik report on increasing pay scales for high school and PU teachers.

The Kumara Naik report was given to the Bharatiya Janata Party government in 2012.

Implementation of the report could cost the State exchequer an additional Rs. 175 crore to Rs. 180 crore, he added.
