Surprise visit by minister to BBMP office

Dr. G. Parameshwara took later-comers to task

Officials in the office of the Dasarahalli zonal commissioner of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) got a rude shock on Friday morning when Bengaluru Development Minister and Deputy Chief Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara walked in on a surprise visit at 10.30 a.m. He first went to the attendance register and checked the log sheet.

The zonal commissioner was also not in the office. Officials appraised Dr. Parameshwara that he was attending a court hearing.

Dr. Parameshwara later-comers to task. Everyone who reported to work after 10.30 a.m. was given a dressing down.

He chaired a review meeting of zonal works and was in the office till 2.30 p.m. He took officials to task over the delay in implementation of several projects for which funds had already been released, and warned them to pull up their socks or face action.

The surprise visit and review was triggered by recent complaints from elected representatives on lax bureaucracy in the zone, sources said.
