A Police Sub Inspector (PSI) is on the run after being booked on the charge of raping and cheating a Delhi-based model.

The 28-year-old model has filed a private complaint in a Delhi court alleging that Dhananjay B., a married man, had cheated her by living in with her without disclosing his marital status.

A team from Malviya Nagar police station in Delhi arrived in Bangalore on Wednesday armed with an arrest warrant for Dhananjay.

But the officer could not be found.

A local police officer said, “Dhananjay met the complainant two years ago during the investigation of a case. She was then working as a bartender in a pub on M.G. Road. She had told him that she was a model but was forced to work in a bar.”

According to the officer, the two started meeting regularly and lived together in a rented house for a few months.

The woman alleged that the sub-inspector had courted her, but did not disclose that he was married. After coming to know that he was married, she went back to Delhi where she filed a case against him. A court directed Malviya Nagar police to register a case and investigate the matter. The police registered an FIR under Sections 420 and 376 of the IPC. They got a warrant to arrest Dhananjay for further investigation. Dhananjay was recently credited with cracking an international credit/debit card racket. He was transferred to Cubbon Park police station from Indiranagar a few days ago, but is yet to report for duty.

The Delhi police met the Inspector at Indiranagar police station. Efforts are on to track him down.
