Hundreds of ISC students across the State were on tenterhooks as they could not access their results on Saturday. As the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) website was down, school managements, Class 12 students and their parents were left high and dry as they were expecting to get their results at 3 p.m. on the website.
Usha S., a parent of a Class 12 Humanities student, said the majority of students were not able to access the results. However, a few of her daughter’s classmates received their result on SMS as they had registered earlier. “After that, we also tried to obtain the results via sms, but we didn’t receive a response ,” she said.
A principal of a school, who did not wish to be named, said the council should not have announced the date and time of the results if they were not prepared for it. Tarun Sundaram, a student of The Frank Anthony Public School, said: “This shouldn’t happen at such a crucial time. Students all over the country are waiting to check results. More care should be taken in the future to avoid such incidents.”

In spite of the glitch, a press release issued by the council said 98.38 per cent of the total 1,360 students who appeared for the exam across the State from 26 schools had cleared the exam. The students took the exam in March this year in 48 subjects. Girls, who secured 98.76 per cent passes, fared better than boys, who had 98.05 per cent passes.
Karnataka’s overall pass percentage was better than the national average of 95.27 per cent. Similarly, the southern region, which consists of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka had the best pass percentage of 98.32 across the four regions in the country. This is marginally up from last year’s 98.28 per cent. When contacted, Gerry Arathoon, Chief Executive and Secretary of CISCE said that the website had crashed due to technical failure and the results would be available on www.cisceindiaresults.com from 10 p.m. on Saturday.
