As many as 150 paintings by students of Spastics Society of Karnataka (SSK) were displayed at an exhibition in Bangalore on Monday. Among the works were Warli artworks by Sheeba (20).
Vidhya Venkat, who coordinated the event, said: “She (Sheeba) enjoys painting tribal art and she seems to have a fascination for this style of painting.” Jyothi R.’s painting of a flower was also on display. She said that she took almost five days to complete the painting. “I am proud and satisfied with what I have done,” she said.
The exhibition, organised after six years, saw a display of paintings in small, medium and large sizes. They were priced between Rs. 250 and Rs. 1,000 and according to Ms. Venkat, almost 100 works were sold on Monday.

The society provides comprehensive diagnostic, educational and vocational training to people with cerebral palsy, autism, and learning disabilities. “We have people from different age groups with different types of neuromuscular and developmental disabilities. We try to recognise their potential with these initiatives,” said Ms. Venkat. “The works were sold to raise funds to sustain the Creative Art Unit of the society, which enhances the potential of children through visual arts,” she said.
