Student fails in exam, ends life

Dejected over failure in examination, a II year pre university student committed suicide by hanging to death from a tree on a military campus in HSR Layout here on Sunday night.

He was identified as Yelumalai, a native of Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu, and a son of a construction labourer .

The incident came to light when army personnel on a routine check found the body.

The police said that the youth had climbed up the tree to end his life. He had left all his belongings, including his mobile phone, under the tree. The police contacted Yelumalai’s family with the help of his mobile phone.

The police have registered a case based on a complaint by Yelumalai’s father, Mari. Yelumalai failed in the physics and chemistry papapers.

Burgled

Two houses were burgled on Sunday and valuables worth Rs. 30 lakh in all were stolen.

A gang broke open the front door of a house on Wellington Street, Ashok Nagar, and escaped with gold and other valuables worth Rs. 20 lakh.

The owner of the house Syed Azam Raza and the family were not in station when it happened. In the other incident, gold and valuables worth Rs. 10 were taken away after a gang gained entry to a house on Kabir Math Road in Hanumanth Nagar.

Ravi Kiran, owner of the house and a software engineer, had taken his wife to her parents’ house. He was informed of the burglary by his neighbours over phone. The Hanumanth Nagar have taken up a case.
