Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday said the government is committed to ensuring a fearless environment for the public in the State. His government is making earnest efforts to prevent crime and speed up criminal justice system after coming to power, he said.
“I won’t say the police are not doing their job. But they need to do more,” Mr. Siddaramaiah said after inaugurating the golden jubilee celebrations of Bangalore City Police Commissionerate and the new Traffic Management Centre. “Police need to polish their behaviour and language to win over the public. They should not use the language used for criminals while interacting with law-abiding citizens. Only then public would have confidence in the police and cooperate with them.”
At the same time, the government is also committed to improving service conditions of police personnel and has already commenced the process of recruiting sub-inspectors and constables.

Also, money would be spent from the Police Welfare Fund to build another marriage hall in Bangalore for police personnel, the Chief Minister said.
Mr. Siddaramaiah said the government is serious about improving road infrastructure in Bangalore. He said the traffic chaos is because of unplanned growth of the city.

The chief Minister released a postal cover to commemorate the golden jubilee celebrations of the City Police Commissionerate in the presence of Chief Post-Master General M.S. Ramanujan.
Home Minister K.J. George, legislators from the city, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) S.K. Pattanayak and senior police officers, including Commissioner Raghavendra H. Auradkar.
Before the ceremony, Mr. Siddaramaiah visited the Traffic Management Centre on Infantry Road and got acquainted with the facilities.
