The Bharatiya Janata Party State unit has requested its national president Amit Shah to hold two separate rallies in the State on two days between June 8 and 10 to mark the completion of the first year in office of the Narendra Modi government.

According to sources, the party wants him to address rallies in Mysuru and Hubballi. However, the State unit is yet to get confirmation from Mr. Shah regarding the visit.

“In fact, Mr. Shah wanted to visit the State on May 29 itself. But we requested him to put off the visit as the State is now busy with the village panchayat polls,” a senior BJP leader pointed out.

The party has chosen Hubballi and Mysuru for the rallies as they represent two different regions of north and south or old Mysore.

The party leaders did not prefer Bengaluru for holding the rally this time as Mr. Shah has visited Bengaluru earlier and held a couple of meetings there, sources said.
