Special counters for I-T returns from July 29-31

The Income-Tax Department will open 80 special counters at Gayathri Vihar, Palace Grounds from July 29-31 to enable salaried employees and pensioners to file their returns.

Voluntary compliance

Addressing a press conference on Friday, M. Tirumala Kumar, Commissioner of Income Tax, Bangalore said several measures are being taken to encourage voluntary compliance among tax payers.

The special counters will remain open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on all three days. Arrangements will be made to receive bulk returns separately.

As people whose total income exceeds Rs. 5 lakh are required to file their returns electronically, e-filing intermediaries will be available at the venue, he said.
