Five class 10 students with special needs have approached the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board alleging that the invigilator for the exam forgot to affix labels on their answer scripts to indicate that they had a learning disability. They said this was brought to their attention after they received scanned photocopies of the answer-scripts.

Handwriting expert Shivananda Nayak, who mentored the five children, said their mathematics answer scripts did not have the label. “It was followed for all the papers, except mathematics,” he said, adding that some of the students had failed by a narrow margin.

The parents have also approached the Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights.
