It was a harrowing 24 hours for the parents of six teenagers studying in a private school in the city after the children went missing for a whole day. It was later found that one of the boys had organised a visit to his grandmother’s house in Magadi.
The boys, all of them aged around 15 years, are students of St. Lawrence School in Kamakshipalya. On a whim, they planned a day trip outside Bengaluru, without informing their parents.
In a statement to the police, one parent said their son returned home after school on Monday around 5.30 p.m. and announced that he was stepping out for tuitions. Later, they learned that he had not turned up for class. They started to panic.

When the children failed to return home, their parents approached the Kamakshipalya police. A special team of police officers were immediately tasked with tracking the teenagers.
On Tuesday, around 4.30 p.m., one of the parents of one of the boys received a call from his grandmother who lives in a village near Magadi informing them that all six children were with her.
“They wanted to go on a trip from a long time. One of the children suggested that they visit his grandmother who lives near Magadi. They went to visit her without informing anyone,” a police officer said.
