The students of Lisaa School of Design and Creo Valley School of Film & Television took out a silent protest urging the Central Government to lift ban on BBC’s documentary, India’s Daughter.
The protest began with music performance by Bornfree Barefoot Black Beret Band performance by John Devraj’s team and freedom jam drumming. This was followed by a mime show - Lion and the Hunter. Through the mime, the students wanted to spread the message that the progress of any country was not gauged by the economic prosperity but by freedom and rights enjoyed by the women in that country.
This was followed by the silent protest march and stilt walking. The students said the ban was not justified as filmmaker Leslee Udwin’s intent was not to defame India. The documentary on the Delhi gang-rape had triggered an uproar as it featured the interview of Mukesh Singh, one of the six rapists of the 23-year-old medical student.

The students said as film making students, they had watched the documentary on YouTube. They said celebrities like Farhan Akhtar had supported the documentary stating, "Raises some serious questions about the concept of masculinity...The filmmaker's intent is clear. It is not to defame India but use an event that reverberated around the globe as the basis for her study...”.
The students also said the documentary throws light on mindset of a section of people who blame women for everything including rape. It was time to support women and ensure that proper security is given.
