The condition of an unidentified victim of sexual violence, who was brought by the police in an unconscious state to Victoria Hospital on Monday night, continues to be critical.
Doctors attending on her at the Super-Speciality Block on Victoria Hospital premises said they were still not sure whether it is a case of sexual assault or rape.
“Gynaecologists have conducted the mandatory tests and the samples have been sent to the forensic laboratory. We will know whether it is a case of sexual assault or rape only after the forensic reports comes,” said S. Balaji Pai, neurosurgeon attending on her.

“She has suffered severe brain damage and a scan revealed a blood clot. We performed a brain surgery and a repeat scan showed that the clot had cleared; but she is in coma and on ventilator support,” he said.
The woman, in her early 20s, was found by the Tavarekere police in an unconscious state with bite marks and a head injury in a field in Syndicate Bank Layout near Byadarahalli on Magadi Road.
Dr. Pai, who said she had also suffered a severe injury in the right ear, said no her relative had turned up. “Her face is swollen and head has been shaved for the brain surgery. It might take more than two weeks for anyone to make out how she looked. Although a man, whose daughter is missing, came here, he went away as he could not recognise her.”

Shobha’s visit
The former Energy Minister Shobha Karandlaje visited the woman at the hospital on Wednesday and enquired about her health condition.
