Seminar on Rani Abbakka

The Kannada and Culture Department will organise a seminar here on Sunday on Ullal province queen Abbakka, who fought against the Portuguese in the 15th Century. Minister for Health and Family Welfare U.T. Khader, who is also the honorary president of the Veera Rani Abbakka Utsav Committee, told reporters here on Thursday that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the event dedicated to the queen, who was a symbol of patriotism.

Demand

The organisers would also draw the attention of the government towards the demand by local people to name Mangaluru International Airport after Rani Abbakka, he said.
