School van and bike collide; one dead

A two-wheeler rider was killed after being run over by a school van on the Outer Ring Road in Panattur near Kadubeesanahalli on Thursday afternoon.

Police said that the deceased, Mahadesha (50), was a tea vendor. He was riding his two-wheeler on Outer Ring Road around 3 pm when the collision with the school van took place. He fell down. The van’s rear wheel ran over him. He died on the spot.

Police said that the van, belonging to Vidya Vikas School in Panatthur, was dropping students home. A few students were in the van at the time of the accident. However, none of them were hurt.

Following the accident, an angry mob pelted stones at the van. Police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. They prevented the mob from setting the vehicle on fire. The police have detained the driver for questioning.
