Salesgirl raped allegedly by painter

A 21-year-old painter was arrested by the R.T. Nagar police on Monday on the charge of raping a 19-year-old salesgirl at a house on Dinnur Main Road.

The police said the woman was sexually abused on November 14; she filed the complaint on Monday, as she was afraid and had been threatened by the accused not to reveal anything.

The woman had reportedly gone to a vacant house, where the accused, Siddiq Hussain, was working as a painter, and attempted to sell him a dinner set. The accused allegedly asked her to come inside the house and display the items. Once inside, he is accused of sexually abusing her.

The woman as well as the accused have been subjected to medical examination and the report is awaited. Police are investigating.
