Rs. three lakh stolen from Kannada film director’s car

Noted Kannada film director and actor was robbed of Rs. Three lakh as he left a suitcase with the cash in his car by diverting attention.

According to police, the complainant S. Narayan, a well known Kannada film director and actor had gone to Federal Bank in Vijayanagar with his driver Ravishankar on Wednesday. Around 11.30 a.m., when they reached the bank he left a suitcase containing a few documents and Rs. three lakh in the front seat of the car and asked the driver to wait for him.

The driver was waiting outside the car leaving the window of the car open, during which time a few passers-by diverted his attention and made away with the cash.

The driver realised that the suitcase was missing only when Narayan returned and asked him. They looked around but the suitcase could not be found.

Narayan approached the Vijayanagar police station and registered a complaint. The police are obtaining the CCTV footage and efforts are on to identify the accused.

“We are questioning the driver to ascertain the fact of the incident,” a senior police officer said.
