With the condition of roads and footpaths along Namma Metro alignment across the city in a poor condition, Mayor D. Venkatesh Murthy has directed the officials of Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL) and Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to take up repairs by sharing costs equally.
Chairing a meeting here on Monday, he said that the various civic agencies must work together and improve basic infrastructure in the city.
The Chief Minister had directed him to hold a coordination meeting with the various civic agencies to solve the infrastructure issues.

This was after he inspected Banashankari, Kanakapura Road and Jayanagar.
Poor condition
Though Metro Reach One was inaugurated one year ago, the condition of roads in Ulsoor, Indiranagar, C.M.H. Road and Byappanahalli was still poor and citizens were being put to hardship.

BBMP and BMRCL would undertake repairs of roads under the alignment of Metro Reach Two and Three, including R.V. Road, Jayanagar, Vani Vilas Road and Kanakapura Road.
Mr. Murthy directed the BMRCL officials to apply to the BBMP to put up advertisements and other publicity material on Namma Metro’s pillars between M.G. Road and Byappanahalli, besides cleaning the medians on the stretch.
Progress report
Commissioner Rajneesh Goel chaired a review meeting on ward-level works and directed the zonal chief engineers and executive engineers to submit progress report to his office every week.
The zonal chief engineers have been directed to submit monthly reports as well.
Mr. Goel asked them to take up the works such as footpath improvement, development of arterial and sub-arterial roads, repairs of roadside drains only after technical approval.
Files pertaining to these works must include the road history, besides following regulations specified under TenderSure.
The chief engineers of the lakes, solid waste management and major roads departments have also been directed to submit progress reports, according to Mr. Goel.
