At least 3,740 police personnel will be deployed in and around Manekshaw Parade ground and surrounding areas on Monday to maintain law and order during the 66th Republic Day celebrations.
Nine DCPs have been instructed to supervise security operations.
Police Commissioner M.N. Reddi on Saturday said, “As the city witnessed several incidents recently, we are maintaining strict vigil. Every part of the venue and surrounding areas have been thoroughly checked. Around 25 metal door frame metal detectors and two explosive detectors will be used. The antecedents of BBMP staff and other invitees have also been verified. No one will be allowed inside without an identity card.”

Anti-sabotage teams have been conducting checks in the city since January 12. “This time, 1,000 Home Guards have been roped in. They will be deployed along with policemen in sensitive and public places. Hotels and lodges are being checked. Security has been beefed up in bus and railway stations.”
Police have been asked to keep a watch on suspicious persons staying in lodges and hotels across the city ahead of Republic Day.
Watchtowers and 36 CCTV cameras have been installed across the venue to monitor the event. A police help centre has also been set up at Gate number 4 at venue to help the public.

BBMP Commissioner Lakshminarayan said, “Around 1,900 people from 63 troops, including bands, will take part in the parade. Several schools, police department, scouts and guides will also participate. Around 2,650 children will take part in the cultural programmes.”
