A light but steady drizzle on Wednesday brought some much-needed respite to the city as the temperature dipped by a good five degrees.
The maximum temperature that had climbed up to an unbearable 37.5 degrees the previous day came down to 32.4 degrees and is likely to fall further in the coming days said the duty officer at the meteorological centre here. Both the minimum and maximum temperatures have hovered well over normal over the last five days.
Wednesday's rainfall was the third spell that Bangalore has received this month, and the heaviest. However the total April rain has been far short of the normal. The city has recorded 6.2 mm this month so far, which is half of the average (of 13 mm) generally recorded until April 25. This deficit could be made up in the next coming days, said the officer.

Traditionally, the city sees three days of rainfall in April and is known also for hail storms. The rainfall owes to a low pressure system that has formed over the Comorin area.
Several parts of Karnataka have recorded rain, including Kodagu, Mysore, Chamarajanagar and Uttara Kannada. Over the next two days south interior Karnataka, including Bangalore, could see rain and thundershowers.
