Kanhaiya M. was determined to write the examination on Friday and not be bogged down by his disabilities. The 18-year-old suffers from muscular dystrophy, a genetic disorder. He wrote the economics paper with the help of a scribe.

He had this disability since he was seven years old and now finds it difficult to sit upright. He is a student of commerce at BES PU college, and wrote the examination in Government PU College, 18th Cross, Malleswaram.

He said that authorities had made arrangements for a bed and a table. He was lying down on the bed and told the answers to the scribe.

His mother, Srilakshmi M, said he was given one hour extra to write the paper.

“Despite that, he was very tired and was not able to answer many of the questions,” she said. She added that he had scored 82% in his SSLC examinations.

“He has been very determined and told us that he wants to appear for the board examinations. He is confident of doing well,” she added.
