Protests throw Bengaluru’s traffic out of gear

People hailing from Kolar and Chikkaballapur took out a procession from seeking water supply to the two arid districts.

Traffic movement in and around Majestic area in Bengaluru was disrupted for over an hour today when hundreds of farmers, labourers and employees from unorganised sectors took out a rally from the City Railway Station to Freedom Park demanding water.

The people hailing from Kolar and Chikkaballapur took out a procession from seeking water supply to the two arid districts.

The protests led by Karnataka Prantha Raitha Sangha also registered its opposition to Land Acquisition Ordinance, supported by other organisations.

The protestors shouted slogans and demanded the State government to implement Paramashivaiah Commission Report to provide drinking water in Kolar.

Traffic in and around Majestic, Anand Rao Circle, K.G. Road and Goodshed Road was affected due to slow moving traffic.

The procession in Bengaluru is being supported by Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha, Hasiru Sene, factions of Karnataka Rajya Dalit Sangharsha Samiti and Karnataka Prantha Krishi Kooligarara Sangha among others.
