The south-east division police, who grilled serial rapist Jaishankar for four days to know how he escaped from the highly secured central jail, are now corroborating the information provided by him.

Jaishankar escaped from the highly fortified Parappana Agrahara Central Prison in the wee hours of September 1.The south-east division nabbed him from a dilapidated hut next to a lake near Koodlu gate five days later.

According to officials , Jaishankar gave a detailed description about his escape, which is being corroborated. He will be produced in court on Wednesday and will be remanded in judicial custody since the enquiry is complete. “We would seek his custody later if needed,” a senior police officer said.

Jaishankar reportedly escaped using a duplicate key of his cell . He used a bedsheet and strap of a bag to scale the prison wall. Soon after his arrest, the police could not get his custody as he had fractured his limbs and also had suffered a serious injury to his back while jumping from the peripheral wall of the prison.

Though the police got his custody in court, it was suspended until he was treated for his injuries at Victoria Hospital. Jaishankar was discharged from Victoria Hospital recently.
