Police are preparing guidelines to ensure safety for paying guests (PGs) in view of the alleged rape of a software engineer in Electronic City earlier this week.

Police Commissioner, Raghavendra Auradkar assured that a detailed survey would be conducted on the number of PG accommodation and prepare a detailed report on safety guidelines. The jurisdictional police officers have been instructed to prepare a list of PG accommodation in their areas, he said.

“We will verify whether the required permission has been taken from the authority concerned to run the PG accommodation along with the safety measures in place,” Mr. Auradkar said, adding that police would rope in officials of the BBMP in this regard.

Citing the example of Srinivasa Reddy who was been booked for destroying evidence, Mr. Auradkar said that strict action would be initiated against owners of PG accommodations if they are found violating any norm.
