Plumber murdered following argument over salary

A 45-year-old plumber was allegedly murdered by his colleague in an apartment complex on Neeladri Road in Electronic City here on Saturday night.

The victim, Nagappa, a native of Venkatagirikota in Kuppam, Andhra Pradesh, was staying with his co-workers in the apartment where they had been hired to undertake plumbing work.

Nagappa and one of his co-workers, Krishna, had an argument over their salary during which Krishna, in a fit of rage, used a hammer to hit Nagappa on the left ear and on the left side of his head. Nagappa, who suffered grievous injuries, died later in the night, while Krishna fled the scene.

The incident came to light on Sunday morning when the construction supervisor entered the apartment and saw Nagappa’s body in a pool of blood. He immediately informed the police who rushed to the spot and shifted the body to Victoria Hospital for post-mortem.

The Electronic City police, who have registered a case, are on the lookout for Krishna.

Assaulted

The Basaveshwaranagar police arrested a man for allegedly assaulting a 28-year-old homemaker after he made an attempt to snatch her chain at her residence here on Saturday.

The homemaker, Bhavya, who lives with her husband, Muni Reddy, on Basaveshwarnagar 8th cross, was alone at her house when the accused Balasubrahmanya, a family friend, dropped in on Friday night.

When he tried to grab her chain, the woman resisted and raised an alarm. Balasubrahmanya allegedly used a knife to assault her before fleeing.

Meanwhile, residents and neighbours rushed Bhavya to a hospital.

The police said that the accused had confessed that he had attacked the woman in an attempt to raise funds for repaying debts. The Basaveshwanagar police have registered a case.

Chain snatched

Two motorcyclists snatched the chain of a woman who was walking on 8 Cross, 11 Main of Jeevan Bima Nagar here on Saturday around 10.30 p.m.

The woman, Lakshmi, a resident of the same area, had gone to a shop and was returning home when the two approached her, asking for directions to a nearest petrol bunk.

While the woman was distracted and looked around, one of the assailants snatched the gold chain (weighing 25 grams) before fleeing. The JB Nagar police have registered a case.

Found dead

A 23-year-old woman was found hanging in her room on Shampura Road in KG Halli police station limits here on Sunday morning.

The woman was identified as Gracy, employed as domestic help at the residence of Mehboob Sharif in Ashok Nagar. She was residing in a shed in the same house for the last six months. The incident came to light on Sunday morning when the house owner discovered Gracy’s body hanging from the ceiling of her shed around 8.30 a.m.

The police said that a note had been found in which she had named certain people.

According to the police, Gracy had been married to Sangeet in 2005 and had three children from him. However, when he abandoned her, she got acquainted with Santhosh and was living with him in Sujana Nagar in DJ Halli. She later came to know that Santhosh too had a family of his own who were living in another house in the same area.

She then left him and was living in the shed in the house of Mehboob Sharif. Her children were living with their maternal grandparents. The KG Halli police have registered a case.
