Bangalore City Police Commissioner Raghavendra Auradkar has issued a notice to the former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa asking him to wind up his protest from Gandhi statue near Anand Rao Circle, where he along with his supporters have been protesting for the last 14 days demanding expansion of the newly launched Shaadi Bhagya scheme to other communities.
According to the police, Mr. Yeddyurappa had taken permission for only one day on November 1. But, since then, he has been protesting continuously and the police had asked him and his supporters to vacate the place on November 5. “Again today (Wednesday), we served a notice on him as his protest is causing inconvenience to the public,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) B.R. Ravikanthe Gowda. However, when the police went to serve the notice on Wednesday, Mr. Yeddyurappa refused to accept it, but requested the police to extend the permission to protest till his demands were met.
Mr. Yedyurappa alleged that the government was trying to silence his voice and said that he would continue to protest till his demands were met.
