Nrupatunga award for Kum. Veerabhadrappa

Noted Kannada writer Kum. Veerabhadrappa has been chosen for the prestigious Nrupatunga Award of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat for his contribution to Kannada literature.

The award was instituted by Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC). It carries a cash prize of Rs. 7,00,001 and a citation. It will be conferred on the writer on December 12.

Speaking to presspersons, Kannada Sahitya Parishat (KSP) President Pundalika Halambi said on Friday that a seminar on the life and works of the writer would be held on December 17-18.

Also, poet Kavita Rai has been selected for the Sri Vijaya Sahitya award, which carries a cash prize of Rs. 1,11,111 and a citation. It will be conferred on the poet on November 16 at a function organised at the Kannada Sahitya Parishat, he said.
