Terming the alleged assault and molestation of a Tanzanian student late on Sunday as a ‘serious violation of human rights, including racism’, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) wants the State government to submit an action taken report in two weeks.

Following media reports, the Commission listed the sequence of events and how the mob targeted the student.

In a notice issued to the Chief Secretary and the Director General and Inspector General of Police, the NHRC, in a release, said, “The Commission has considered the above [media] reports and is of the opinion that if the contents of the report are true, it would amount to a serious violation of human rights including racism.”
