The new traffic regulation introduced for motorists proceeding from Brigade Road towards Richmond Circle via Shoolay Circle (Vellara junction) appears to have not only streamlined the flow of traffic but also left commuters less hassled.
Motorists from Brigade Road, hitherto turning right at Shoolay Circle to proceed towards Richmond Circle, were from Saturday diverted towards Wood Street from where they needed to take the first right turn into Tate Lane before joining the traffic coming from Lifestyle side on Richmond Road and head towards Richmond Circle (see map).

The new traffic rule comes in the wake of the perennial congestion at Shoolay Circle attributed to the time taken by the motorists from Brigade Road to turn right towards Richmond Circle.
The new regulation, albeit on an experimental basis, has won the praise of many regular commuters.

The traffic police have placed more than a dozen flex boards detailing the change all along the stretch starting from Brigade Road to Wood Street and Shoolay Circle. They are also using the public address system to make announcements near Wood Street.
