There seems to be a lack of coordination over the launch of “Namma Bengaluru – Nanna Koduge” (Our Bangalore – My Contribution), programme of the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to rope in corporate houses for the City’s development.
In a flip-flop on Saturday, Mayor B.S. Sathyanrayana, who had announced the inauguration date of the programme as June 24, retracted to state that the event had been indefinitely postponed. As per the schedule, the event was to be inaugurated by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

He told The Hindu that the event was postponed due to assembly session (starting on Monday). “We will consult the offices of the Chief Minister, Members of Parliament and others and then fix a suitable date next month,” he added. According to him, about 300 companies had come forward to participate in the programme that involves maintenance of parks, lakes, schools and hospitals. The companies would enter into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the civic agency for a period of three years. Earlier in the day, the Mayor had announced that BBMP would save at least Rs. 15 crore annually with this programme. He also said that those companies that take over the maintenance work would be barred from advertising on the premises that they adopt.
