Multi-lingual KGF to hit over 2,000 screens across the country

Film will also be screened in the USA, UK and Canada

A massive set was erected at Kolar Gold Fields during the making of the film.

For the first time, a Kannada film dubbed in four other languages is releasing in over 2,000 screens across the country this Friday. Touted as the ‘costliest film’ made in Kannada, KGF, starring Yash and directed by Prashanth Neel, has been dubbed in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi.

“KGF is also hitting screens in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, and will focus on the European market in the second phase,” said Vijay Kirangadur, producer of the film.

The first screening will be at 4 a.m. on Friday, said Vijay.

KGF is being widely talked about since the Kannada film industry is not known for films with a massive budget, unlike the Tamil and Telugu film industries.

The film has piqued the curiosity of many, including Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan, whose

Zero is also hitting the screens on Friday. According to Yash, Shahrukh has watched the trailer of the film and is keen to meet him during his next visit to Bengaluru. The 154-second trailer, according to the filmmakers, has been watched by over two crore people from across the five languages.

Tamil star Vishal, Telugu producer Korrapatti Ranganatha Sai, noted distributor and producer in Bollywood Anil Tadani, Global United Media of Thiruvananthapuram are distributing the film in their respective languages. The audio rights were bought by Bengaluru-based Lahari Audio by paying a sum of ₹3.60 crore, which is said to be the highest for audio rights.

The Hindu that while the Hindi version is being released in over 1,000 screens, over 400 screens will show the Kannada version.

Fighting piracy

Producer Vijay Kirangadur has taken steps to prevent piracy of the film. “We have hired Anti-Piracy Solutions, a Hyderabad based software firm, which helps in digital trail and evidence against piracy,” he said. “Besides that, we have requested the cyber crime cell to keep an eye on pirated copies,” he added.

Actor Yash has cautioned his fans against indulging in any kind of piracy.
