More reasons to flaunt the ink

What could be a voter’s motivation to go and cast their vote on April 17? To elect a clean and honest candidate? That is not all. Several organisations and companies are offering a variety of discounts and free services in order to urge voters to exercise their adult franchise. A free eye check-up, subsidised photo copies and a glass of wine - all this could be yours if you get your finger inked.

ASTHA, an NGO working with disabled persons, has partnered with UBER Bangalore to provide free travel to and from the polling station to vote in a car that would also have a wheelchair facility.

Consultation rebate

Sankara Eye Hospital has promised to provide 50 per cent discount on consultation for their patients on April 17 and April 18 at all their branches if the flaunt their inked finger. Mr.Vikram Chaudhuri, CEO, Sankara Eye Hospital, in a press release said: “This unique idea will create awareness about the importance of vote in people. We will give 50 per cent off after inspecting the voter’s inked finger. The aim is to encourage a higher voter turnout in Bangalore.”

Besides this, customers can also avail a free LASIK screening for a period of 14 days from the date of the election.

Free drink

In order to encourage the youth of the city to vote, High Ultra Lounge, managed by Brigade Hospitality, will offer a complimentary glass of wine on April 17 and 18 between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. for those who have indelible ink.

Meanwhile, Jana Priya Public Charitable Trust in Rajajinagar has said that students above 18 years who have voted can get per page photo copies for 25 paise. Students below 18 years can show their parents inked finger and an identity proof to get the same discount. However, the trust has clarified that the photo copies should be only on education related texts.
