A week after his house was demolished, 40-year-old Kumaramangalam has reason to smile as the Pulakeshi Nagar in Bangalore MLA Akhanda Srinivasa Murthy, whose brother has been accused of razing the house allegedly to take over the property, has agreed to help him rebuild the house.

“I am grateful to everyone who supported me during the crisis; I am also thankful to Mr. Murthy who has agreed to supply material for the construction of my house,” Mr. Kumaramangalam said.

The D.J. Halli police have recovered some of the looted household articles from those involved in the illegal demolition. “They called me to identify the articles and I am hopeful of getting back my belongings,” he said. “Mr. Murthy promised that he would supply all the material. The work is going to start on Monday after Bhumi Puja,” he said.
