After days of being in the eye of a storm, the private school in Marathahalli will reopen on Monday under “heavy bandobast”.
The school was closed after the rape of a six-year-old student by a skating instructor came to light. While the incident sent shockwaves across the city, the parents of students studying in the school were up in arms against the management over the way the incident was handled. Though the parents continue to be divided on whether to send their children to the school or not, last-minute preparations were in full swing on Sunday.
A group of parents, officials of the Department of Public Instruction and the police reviewed the security measures being adopted, on Sunday. T.D. Pawar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast), said there would be considerable police presence at the school on Monday, with a large number of policewomen to coordinate with the security staff to keep a check on visitors, keep the campus secure and take parents into confidence.

Ramesh S.M., Block Education Officer, South range-four, said work went on till late on Sunday with over 100 CCTV cameras being installed and background checks being conducted on the staff of the school. “Around 70 per cent of it has been completed,” Mr. Pawar said.
