A 38-year-old man allegedly strangled his wife in his car and then went to the office of a Kannada news channel to “give them the news” on Thursday.
Around noon, Nagaraj, an electrician from Hanumanthnagar, allegedly struck on the head of his estranged wife Jyothi (28) and strangled her in his car near K.R. Park, adjacent to Basavanagudi police station. He then drove to the office of a local TV channel in Richmond Town where he “confessed” the murder to the personnel there.
Wearing a bloodstained shirt, Nagaraj told the reporters there that he had strangled Jyothi after confronting her over “her affairs” and her “calls to other men”. He said his wife had “cheated” him and even “duped him financially” by stealing money from him. The personnel there reported the matter to the police. Nagaraj surrendered before the police and led the police to K.R. Park where Jyothi’s body was still in the car.

According to the police, the couple, who married about 10 years ago, have three children. They had marital problems, which eventually lead to Jyothi living in her sister’s house, the police said. The Basavanagudi, who have filed a case, are unsure if Nagaraj had murdered Jyothi in the car or if he had struck her elsewhere and transported the body in the car.
