Malleswaram blast victims get seats

August 22, 2013 01:12 am | Updated November 16, 2021 08:59 pm IST - BANGALORE:

The two students who were injured in the Malleswaram blast on April 17 this year — Leesha N.S. and Rakshita Sujai – have finally been admitted into different courses, a communiqué from the Higher Education Department said.

Both the victims had to write the Common Entrance Test (CET) from the hospital, where Rakshita underwent skin graft on her exposed left leg bone, while Leesha’s left leg bone which was crushed had to be operated upon.

Rakshita, who secured a CET rank of 62,295, has been allotted a seat in the Government Sri Krishnarajendra Silver Jubilee Technological Institute, Bangalore. She was earlier allotted a college in Nelamangala for computer science, but did not take it as she was awaiting the seat promised by the government. Her father, N. Jayanna, said she was now happy as she had been allotted a government-quota seat in computer science as a special case.

On the other hand, Leesha, who was unable to secure a rank in the CET and had not cleared her II Pre University exam, passed the supplementary exam. The alumnus of Maharani Lakshmi Ammani College for Women has been given a free seat by the same college in the BCA course.
