Malleswaram blast: It was ammonium nitrate

Fourteen days after the Malleswaram blasts, the ballastic report of the Forensic Sciences Laboratory (FSL) has confirmed the use of ammonium nitrate in the bomb.

Commissioner of Police Raghavendra Auradkar said: “As we had suspected, ammonium nitrate was used in the blast”.

The FSL analysis confirmed that there were projectiles in the bomb and the parts of the motorcycle have played the role of projectile, he added.

Sharing the progress of the investigations, Mr. Auradkar said that the police have interrogated more than 60 people in this connection . “But the number of arrests is only four so far, while a massive manhunt for the other suspects and questioning of the suspects is on,” the Police Commissioner said.

“So far the police have not traced the people who came to the city and planted the bomb near the BJP office,” Mr. Auradkar said.
