The police raided several dhabas along the national highway in Nelamangala on Thursday. They chased away the customers and allegedly smashed liquor stocks and searched the premises .

Liquor bottles were seized and the owners arrested for serving liquor despite the Supreme Court ruling against the sale of liquor along highways. The dhabas also did not have licence to sell liquor, the police added.

Based on an tip-off, a police team, led by Sub-Inspector Manjunath U.R., conducted raids and seized liquor bottles from Manoj, Thirumala, Whitey, Fish land and Nartaki Dhabas situated in and around Nelamangala. The police also locked up the dhabas charging them under various sections of the Excise Act.
