The Union Ministry of Labour on Friday told the Karnataka High Court that the office of the Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner, Bangalore, has suspended licences issued to four private contractors, who are executing the works of the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL), for not adhering to labour norms despite reminders.

Assistant Solicitor General S. Kalyan Basavaraj made this submission before a Division Bench comprising Chief Justice D.H. Waghela and Justice B.V. Nagarathna during the hearing of a public interest litigation petition.

Mr. Basavaraj said said he would file a statement indicating the names of the companies at the next hearing on October 21.
