Though the High Court of Karnataka set aside the sanction given by the then Governor H.R. Bhardwaj in 2011 for prosecution of former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, the legal problems for the BJP leader are far from over.
Even if the present Governor Vajubhai R. Vala decides to desist from giving sanction for prosecution, there will not be a significant change in the legal status of his cases, observe legal experts.
This is because some of the cases coming under prosecution are also being probed separately by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), as per the Supreme Court direction. These cases are related to the alleged illegal mining and charge sheets have already been filed. Halting the prosecution will not come in the way of inquiry by the CBI.

Nevertheless, the High Court’s decision has come as a moral booster for Mr. Yeddyurappa, who had described Mr. Bhardwaj’s decision in 2011 as “politically motivated”. But in reality, it is not going to give him complete relief, say experts.
