A day after 125 nurses working on contract at Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) here intensified their protest, the Rajya Vokkaligara Sangha, KIMS management, terminated their services.
Sangha president Appaji Gowda on Friday said the management had to take action as the protesting nursing staff members had refused to budge from their stand despite negotiations.
Terming the protest as uncalled for, he said that there was excess staff as the 750-bed hospital requires a maximum of 400 nurses.

“This is a private institution. The nurses’ demand for regularisation of services and salaries based on a par with government jobs is unreasonable. Although we tried our best to negotiate with them, they continued to tarnish the institution’s image by continuing their protest. So, we have terminated their services,” he said.
