Kashappanavar attends legislature session

He will give an explanation to Speaker on Tuesday

Congress MLA Vijayanand Kashappanavar, who has been accused of assaulting two police constables, along with his friends in a bar in Bangalore last week, attended the legislature session on Monday afternoon.

Claiming that he was innocent, Mr. Kashappanavar who represents the Hungund constituency, told presspersons that he would meet Speaker Kagodu Thimmappa on Tuesday to give an explanation on the entire episode.

He said he was meeting the Speaker on his own volition.

Mr. Kashappanavar, referring to the incident, remarked: “Going out for dinner turned out to be a mistake.”

He claimed he had not assaulted the police. “They have booked a case against me just because I told them I would bring the issue to the Speaker’s notice when they came up to my table in the bar and started taking a video of me.”

He said the Central Crime Branch (CCB) police had interrogated him from 9.30 a m to 3 p.m. before arriving at the Legislative Assembly.
