It may be Thursday evening by the time mining baron and former Minister G. Janaradhan Reddy could walk out of the Bengaluru Central Prison complex, where he is presently lodged.
The Supreme Court granted him bail in the Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) case, the last of the eight cases against him, on Tuesday.
The case was registered in Hyderabad, and hence the bail formalities have to be completed before the CBI Special Court, Hyderabad, the trial court in the case.
C.H. Hanumantharaya, one of Mr. Reddy’s defence counsels, said the Supreme Court’s order has to be communicated to the CBI Special Court, Hyderabad, which he said could happen on Wednesday.
“After all bail conditions are satisfied to the satisfaction of the trial court, they will issue a release order and communicate it to Hyderabad Chenchalaguda Jail through tapal. The jail should then communicate it to Bengaluru Central Prison. It will take two days,” he said.
Offers puja
Meanwhile, prison authorities in the prison complex said Mr. Janardhan Reddy received the news of his bail with happiness.
Sources said Mr. Reddy visited a temple in the prison complex and offered puja, after which he withdrew to his cell.
