Irregularities in Kolar CMC: Notices to be issued to 11 accused

The Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) has instructed the Commissioner of Kolar City Municipal Council (CMC), S.A. Ramprakash, to issue notices to 11 officials and staff accused of irregularities in the local body.

It also directed Mr. Ramprakash to issue notices along with the chargesheet prepared by the DMA based on a report submitted by Deputy Commissioner K.V. Thrilokchandra following an investigation the Renuka, director, District Urban Development Cell.

Former CMC Commissioner K.N. Lakshminarayan, former assistant engineer Kotreshappa, junior engineer Srinivas, Revenue officers M.P. Subrahmanya and G.N. Chalapathy, revenue inspectors Subbanna and Krishnappa, first grade assistants Mallikarjun and Tyagaraj, health officer K.G. Ramesh and tax collector Govindappa have been named accused in the chargesheet.

Another official Garudachalamurthy was dropped from the chargesheet following his retirement from the service.

DMA took action after former CMC president K.S. Suryanarayan, former vice presidents L. Khaleel and V.K. Rajesh filed complaints of irregularities in development projects and execution of works.

Misappropriation of crores of rupees has taken place due to illegal resolutions, they alleged in their complaints.

In her report, Mrs. Renuka had said the charges against all the twelve had been proved prima facie and she recommended disciplinary action against them.
