International fake currency racket: CCB nab four people from Assam

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) have nabbed four persons including a woman from Assam who were found circulating fake currency worth Rs. 13.9 lakh. This is the second such case in the last one month.

The accused Ameerulla Haq, Shahabuddin, Zinab Mondal and Akbar Ali were nabbed while they were looking for customers. The accused were allegedly offering Rs one lakh fake currency at the cost of Rs. 50,000. The accused confessed that the fake currency with 500 and 1,000 denomination were being printed in Pakistan and smuggled to India via Bangladesh and West Bengal.

The accused reportedly would get women to get the consignment from West Bengal in a train and offered Rs. 5,000 for the job. The CCB is further investigating into the case. Additional Commissioner of police B. Dayanand said that they were ascertaining inter-state links.
