International children’s film festival begins today

Children in five cities, including Bangalore, will be treated to various films as the 8th International Children Festival 2013, organised by Children’s India, gets under way on Wednesday. A total of 135 films from 25 countries, including China, Italy, Iran, South Korea, The Netherlands and Sri Lanka, will be screened. The films will also be screened in Mysore, Hubli, Dharwad and Mangalore. Home Minister R. Ashok will inaugurate the festival at the Jnana Jyothi auditorium hereActor Puneet Rajkumar and Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy president Tara will be present. A special feature of the festival is the section on environmental films that will be screened at the Bal Bhavan here. The films include My Home is Green, Kruthi, Tiger Queen, Chasing Butterflies and Bee Movie.

Apart from this, a walkathon has been planned from Basaveshwara Circle to Freedom Park on Wednesday.
