Innovative pilot panchayat project in 30 GPs of Mulbagal

The Rural Development and Panchayat Raj (RDPR) Department and Avantika Foundation, a non-profit organisation, will implement an innovative pilot project in 30 Gram Panchayats in Mulbagal taluk in Kolar district for improving governance and service delivery to citizens.

The duration of the project called Gram Panchayat Organisation Development (GPOD) is of two years and it is funded under the Rajiv Gandhi Panchayat Sashaktikaran Abhiyan, a central scheme, said a press release. A pact was signed with the RDPR on December 30, 2014.

The project would use organisation development principles to strengthen the capacity of GP members and officials to improve performance of local bodies.

The Foundation would work with the State Institute for Rural Development, Mysuru, to develop a training curriculum to strengthen GPs.

The innovation was piloted and successfully implementated in two GPs of Oorukunte Mittur, Kolar district and Dibburhalli, Chikkaballapur over the last four years.
